Barroso Challenged on Expert Groups

No progress on membership transparency has been made so far and the Commission is on the breach of breaking the deadline it set for itself. ALTER-EU also wrote to Commissioners Verheugen, Potocnik, Piebalgs, Vassiliou and Dimas to ask them how are they going to address specific cases of Expert Groups dominated by business interests in breach with the Commission's own codes of conduct.

No transparency - two years on

Brussels, 22 June - Two years after its introduction the European Commission's lobby register has failed to bring lobbying into the open,the Alliance for Lobbying Transparency and Ethics Regulation in the EU (ALTER-EU) said today. The group used the anniversary of the register to call on the Commission to take urgent steps towards a mandatory, joint register for the European Commission and European Parliament with improved transparency standards.

Letter on Industry Food Round Table

After Commissioner Janez Potocnik's very weak reply to the letter sent by Food and Water Europe, CEO and other organisations, the organisations replied back again, stressing the demand for the EC to withdraw from the "European Food Sustainable Consumption and Production Roundtable (SCP Roundtable).
